HARRY WINSTON
THE WINSTON STYLE
AN EXTRAORDINARY SIGNATURE
"If I could, I would attach the diamonds directly onto
a woman's skin."
He celebrated magnificent stones and was passionate about
them adorning a woman.
Harry Winston was consumed with the concept of individual jewels,
rather than precious matal, shaping designs. It was a legendary
approach with vastly modern results.
This "pure stone" perspective led to the design
of intricate platinum settings that would allow for three-dimensional
jewels of extraordinary brilliance literally drape over a woman's
neck and wrists, enhancing her features with the sparkling light
of the diamonds.
The dramatic new aesthetic of "flowing" designs created
incomparable luminosity of especially larger stones positioned
in invisible settings. Diamonds were changed forever.
Throughout four decades, the gifted artisan, A.V
Shinde catapulted Harry Winston to the forefront of uniquely
distinctive jewelry. Mr. Shinde created masterpieces evoking
an ornate Indian Heritage combined with classic Harry Winston
tradition. All of his designs are timeless, infused with boldly
colored jewels, expanding the signature and palette of "Winston
style".
Harry Wisnton was also passionate about nature and the organic
geometry of leaves and flower petals. Inspired by a simple holly
wreath, he recognized the potential of intricately cut diamonds,
delicate as holly leaves, being "clustered" into a
piece of jewelry. The ability to envision such a jewelry design
made a tremendous impact on the industry. Instead of using metal,
Harry Winston pioneered an invisible, three-dimensional platinum
setting to highlight the flawlessness of each jewel and produce
unimagined new levels of fire and beauty.
It was always the "stone" that reigned at Harry WinstonÉnot
the gemologist or the designer or the craftsman. It was the great,
unadorned stones that directed the collaboration, the committed
partnership of all these experts that Mr. Winston recognized
as essential to creating world-renowned jewels.
